The "World Famous" VICC Nice & Easy Ride ++ Who is this ride for? ++ This event is intended for people who are new to road cycling and are looking to gain experience riding in a group. It is also suitable for all levels of riders, if they are happy to ride at the pace of the group and informally help out newer riders. ++ What to expect from the ride ++ The Nice & Easy will be: A Medium/Slow ride - so that no riders struggle to keep the pace (avg pace for the entire route 25-27km/h) A No Drop ride - no riders will be dropped from the group - if needed, the group will ride slower ++ Recommended ++ Bring a small amount food and liquid Rucksacks are not necessary Dress for the weather Bring your own tools and spare inner tube Know the route or bring a device with a map ++ General group riding ++ The top priority is safety. Be predictable No sudden braking No sudden accelerating Drop bar bicycles only (Road or Gravel - for safety purposes in the group, no MTB) Announce hazards (with hands or voice) Signal Always carry ID and emergency contact info ++ The VICC group guidance ++ Ride 2 riders wide only Keep level with the rider next to you Keep the gap to the rider in front small When coming off the front, the rider at the front right moves to the front left. ++ If you are at the front of the group ++ Don't surge as you get to the front - maintain the pace Don't half-wheel (creep in front of your partner) Do keep pedaling on the downhills Remember the whole group at junctions, hills, making decisions Raise your hand if stopping Don't accelerate hard out of a junction Know the route, or come off the front in time for any turns ++ Useful Links ++ Hand Signals Link: Group Riding Link:
